Carl-W. Röhrig’s tarot cards, rich in spatial depth, captivate with their extravagant, surrealist style and their imaginative interplay of symbols and forms.
In 1991, the artist began the Tarot series, consisting of 78 paintings. The Röhrig Tarot, like the Dalí Universal Tarot by Salvador Dalí, the Osho–Zen Tarot, and the Margarete Petersen Tarot, is considered one of the modern classics of tarot. Its strength lies in translating traditional tarot motifs into a contemporary visual language.
